When to Honeymoon in Jamaica

When to Go: Although Jamaica has pleasant temperatures throughout the year, March to April is when the High Schools break, and is not the ideal time for a honeymoon.  June to November is the hurricane season so this, too is a time to avoid.  April to December is the dry season and a quieter time to travel.

Getting Married in Jamaica

With idyllic white sand beaches and vibrant tropical blooms, a destination wedding in Jamaica can be the perfect choice for your wedding ceremony.  Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean and one of the most colorful and offers stunning landscapes, churches, secluded beaches and a tropical rainforest, exotic gardens, and plantation homes to exchange your vows.

To tie the knot in Jamaica, the process is fairly simple. Couples must have their birth certificates showing their father’s name and a completed wedding application form.  A form of declaration and a Marriage License form must be obtained at the Ministry of Justice.  Once you’ve filled the forms out, they will need to be taken to the Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax Department.  The cost of the license will be JM$4,000.  A Justice of the Peace will need to sign your form of declaration and once signed, all documents are returned to the Ministry of Justice.  If you are widowed or divorced you will need to show documentation that you are free to wed.  Marriage License normally take about three hours before they can be collected, and are valid for three months.  To gather more information, please click HERE.
