Wedding Hairstyle Inspiration

by asha@hitched

Have you thought about how you're going to style your hair on your wedding day yet? There are plenty of styles to choose from, so I've decided to pick out three classic looks to inspire you. If you want even more wedding hair inspiration, make sure you browse our gallery full of pictures!

Traditional Bun Wedding Hairstyle

The classic bun is a popular wedding hairstyle choice, as it's practical and pretty. As it will be covered with a dupatta or a length of the bridal sari during the ceremony, make sure you add decoration to it to stun your guests once that is removed. By studded it with fresh flowers or crystal hair accessories, you'll take a simple hairstyle and transform it into something fabulous. Remember to style it with a centre parting if you plan on wearing a maang tikka.

If you want to add some Bollywood inspired glamour to your bun, backcomb at the crown to add volume, or consider styling the bun to the side or with plaits for added texture.

A Plaited Wedding Hairstyle

The long plait is a staple Indian hairstyle, and it can be glammed up for a wedding. Try a fishtail plait for a more glamorous, modern take on the look, or braid ribbon or flowers into the plait. If you decide to remove the plait later on in the day, you'll have flowing waves!

Loose Wedding Hair

If you want your hair to frame your face at your wedding, consider a loose and natural wedding hairstyle. This is a choice that is becoming more popular with modern Indian brides. You can curl your hair, or style it straight or wavy - pick which style goes best with your bridal outfit. Make sure you include a middle parting in your hair so there is a place for the maang tikka to rest.
