Getting Married in France

Marriage Requirements


While you can have a religious ceremony, France only recognizes civil marriages.  To get married in France, you must have lived in France for no less than 40 days prior to your civil marriage.  You will need to apply local Maire or Town hall to be granted permission to wed, and will be required to produce documents before the Banns are published.  You will need valid passports, full birth certificates and two proof of residence documents.  The Banns will need to be advertised for 10 days before your intended wedding date.  To gather more information, please click HERE.
