Getting Married in Portugal

Marriage Requirements


To get married in Portugal you will need passports or ID cards, a certificate of non-impediment and full birth certificates.  Documents will need to be translated into Portuguese and a consulate of your nationality in Portugal will need to accredit the documents.  Brides and grooms can have a civil or religious ceremony.  If you or your spouse to be is widowed or divorced, you will need certificates to prove this.  If either party is under 18 years, you will need parental consent to marry.  To organize a civil wedding you must attend the registro civil and present your necessary documents.  The cost of weekend ceremonies is €1070 and the cost to wed during weekdays is €100.  Once you have submitted your paperwork, you can then wed within two to three working days.  You will need to have no less than two witnesses.  To gather more information, please click HERE.
